Affected by Hurricane Dorian, the relevant US ports were temporarily closed

Hurricane Dorian moved to the Mid-Atlantic(US) after almost no impact in Florida(US), bringing storms to Georgia(US) and Carolina(US). Hurricane warnings were issued on the South Carolina coast, the North Carolina coast and the South Chesapeake Bay, where the storm is expected to move to the sea.

Although Dorian's strength has been greatly reduced, it is still a powerful level 2 storm. The hurricane is expected to arrive in South Carolina on Thursday and arrive in North Carolina on Friday. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) points out that even if it is slightly off track to the west, it may be taken to the coast of Carolina. On Friday, it is expected to continue moving northeast and will occupy Nova Scotia.

The storm forced the US Coast Guard to issue port warnings and shut down ports from northern Florida to Virginia. As of Wednesday morning, the USCG reported that the ports of Palm Beach, Port Canaveral, Jacksonville, Fernandina, Savannah, Brunswick and Charleston were closed as a precautionary measure (Port Condition Zulu).

On Wednesday, the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) issued a comprehensive customer advisory on the impact of the US East Coast port. According to MSC, the operation of the docks and gates was resumed in Tampa and Port Everglades. Although the seaport business has been restored at PortMiami, the shore terminal operations are still closed on Thursday. Two MSC network vessels, Cape Tainaro and Zim Rotterdam, were affected by the storm: the Tainaro no longer docked at Wilmington, and the Rotterdam no longer docked at Jacksonville.
