The pilot went on strike! British Airways will cancel most flights again

Published by September 17,2019

British Airways warned that the company had to cancel almost all flights on September 27 due to the pilot strike.

Since yesterday, British Airways has contacted thousands of passengers who booked one of the flights on the same day and offered refunds, reservations or solutions through other airlines.

The airline announced that it canceled flights more than two weeks in advance and did not need to pay EU261 / 2004 compensation to passengers. British Airways still hopes that the pilot union BALPA will cancel the strike, but as British Airways said, "I hope to inform customers in advance."

The strike took place on September 9 and 10 for a total of 48 hours. After the strike, a total of 1,600 flights (including 12 flights between London and Brussels) were attacked. Pilots demanded higher wages and reached a new agreement on profit sharing and share-based payments.

British Airways is the airline of the International Aviation Group (IAG), which believes that pilots "can get an appropriate salary increase" (11.5% salary increase in three years). British Airways said in a statement on Sunday: "If there are no prerequisites for these negotiations, we will continue to engage in constructive talks with Baba." British Airways had previously estimated that the strike would cost 40 million pounds a day.
