Maersk to sell Rotterdam APM terminal to Hutchison Port

Published by January 02,2020

According to reports, on December 18, APM Terminal has signed a letter of intent to sell Rotterdam APM Terminal to Hutchison Port.

Hutchison Port owns the ECT Delta Terminal adjacent to the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The share transfer will be based on the following agreement: In the short term, Rotterdam APM Terminals will continue to exist as an independent organization, and the parent company Maersk will continue to provide them with Annual throughput guaranteed, and no mandatory layoffs for the next four years.

After being acquired by Hutchison Port, Rotterdam APM Terminal will have the opportunity to grow into a leading, modern and future-oriented terminal. Hutchison Ports said they are interested in negotiating an extension of the lease with the Port of Rotterdam Authority. With this goal in mind and the prospect of maintaining employment, the future of the terminal looks promising under the new ownership.

At present, the labor and management committees have discussed the sale of 100% of the shares of Rotterdam's APM terminal to Hutchison Port, and the union will also negotiate with Hutchison Port on the expected selling price. In addition, prior to completion of the sale, approval from the relevant competition department is required.
